I look into your face, I can see the pain there
I try my best to hide the way I feel, the despair!
I comfort and help you the best way I can
It's not always easy, but I still hold your hand.

I'll always be there and won't turn away
My love for you is so strong, I will always stay.
I will ease the time we have together, I must!
I will protect and nurse you, you have my full trust.

My labour of love is all part of our life
From the good times we've had, to the days we had strife.
We promised each other till death us do part
And I'll keep my promise from the love of my heart.

When the time is close and I know the end is near
I will help to make your journey peaceful with nothing to fear.
I will hold you close and I will kiss you goodbye
I'll ask God to take you gently, I know He will try.

And when you quietly slip away, a part of me will too
And one day we will meet again, in Heaven, me and you.
Death is but a moment's parting, for our love is evermore
Just be waiting for me darling, when I too pass through Heaven's door.
